10 Mantras For A Happier Life

Lifestyle

Young adulthood is a struggle that is very complicated and can be a major struggle to get through. At our ages, it’s not easy to wake up every morning and tell yourself that you’re going to have a good day, that the boy/girl you’ve been stressing over isn’t worth it or that you can do whatever you set your mind to. It’s human nature to believe other people’s words over our own when it comes to almost everything. Everyone needs reassurance, no matter what chapter of the life textbook we’re reading.

Here are our top 10 mantras (in no particular order) that everyone should keep in mind for an overall happier life.

“The best way to get things done is to simply begin.”

This is something when you really think about it, you immediately say “truuuuuu.” How do you expect to whip out that two-page English essay if you just sit in bed watching all 13 episodes of Fuller House while stuffing your face with pizza? Put the pizza down, tell Uncle Jesse you’ll see him later and start your introduction. You’ll thank yourself later when that GPA makes you smile.

“Nothing worth having comes easy.”

It’s absolutely true. If you find yourself thinking that something is too hard or that it isn’t worth it, odds are you’re just being lazy. Like the quote says, if it’s worth having, it won’t come easy. You’re going to have to work for it. The blood, sweat, tears and sleepless nights are all going to be worth it in the end, so don’t give up.

“When all else fails, take a nap.”

This is something we at Risq take very seriously. Naps are everything. It sounds like sleeping through your problems is only going to cause MORE problems, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes all you need is a 20 minute power nap to clear your mind and feel refreshed so you can take on whatever stressful situation is coming your way.

“Nothing good comes from your comfort zone.”

You have to take risks. (Pun very much intended *insert smirky emoji*) Taking a risk could be anything from overcoming your fear of roller coasters to eating broccoli when you swear that you hate vegetables. Who knows, you could end up loving roller coasters and broccoli (maybe not necessarily in combination). Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

“You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.”

And we’re not talking Donald Trump. This kinda relates back to your comfort zone. You are only stuck in one position or mindset if you allow yourself to stay in that mindset. If you continue to tell yourself that you are happy and that today is a great day, even if everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong, you will start to believe that you are actually happy.

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

To us, this means that there is no failure. No matter if you are so off track that you really think you’re at rock bottom, the good news is you can only go up from there. There is no possible way to completely fail because there is always a lesson to be learned from failure itself.

“Failure is only for those who quit.”

Like we just said, failure doesn’t exist if you put in the effort. If you quit, there is no room for a lesson because you made the conscious choice to stop whatever you were doing and take that L. It was your choice so you are going to be okay with the failure that you set yourself up for. Don’t quit, because quitting is giving up and you should never give up.

“It’s a bad day, not a bad life.”

This particular quote is so on point. There are so many times where you just look at all the bad things happening in your life and think, what’s the point? Good news! Tomorrow is a new day, and although not all problems can go away in a simple cycle of 24 hours, it can make all the difference. Sometimes those bad days turn into bad weeks, and maybe into bad months and bad years, but there is always a bright side to the darkness.

“Everything happens for a reason.”

Ahh, this one’s a classic. Taking these five words to heart will change your life. If you live your life believing that no matter what happened, there is a reason (maybe not known to you at the moment), you will stop blaming yourself and everyone else for your problems. It’s the way of the world. Whether you think about this in a religious, spiritual or logical way, you know that things don’t happen just because.

Ending with the wise words of one of the most influential phenomenons,

“In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things that are not meant for you” —Buddha

This is so powerful that any description would lessen its worth.

If you take these ten mantras to heart and apply them to your daily life, you will end up not only thinking and feeling happier, but you will be happier.
